A giveaway!?!? Yes!

Hey everyone, I have something really exciting to tell all of you. One of my buddies and I have been working very hard on a new website called “This is Epic” we just call it “Epic”, but the url is We are working very hard to get you all an alpha release around December 24th, aka, Christmas Eve (here in the U.S. of A). What a nice gift to all of you, right? Not only will this be an alpha release, but we are planning on giving an iPad 2 to one lucky winner. All you need to do to enter into the drawing is visit Epic’s website and signup to the mailing list. While signing up enters you into the drawing for an iPad 2, we will also let you know when we launch. Don’t worry, we are not selling your email or anything like that.

Ok, I’m Interested. But What Is Epic?

Epic is a new flavor of social bookmarking and sharing. We aim to be a community focused on content that is more than just ordinary or just cool news. We encourage you to share articles that truly are of a larger scale. Content that truly is Epic! If you have seen something you thought was just too flipping cool for school, and the “like” button couldn’t possibly do it justice, we have something for you. Soon, you will be able to click our Epic Button, or share the URL of the epic content on our website for everyone else to discover.

How Epic Got Started

One day I was browsing the comments on some Youtube video and I found a comment that went a little like this:

OMG, I wish there was an Epic Button, because I would totally click it!

I read that comment and instantly went to search for if an epic button existed. I checked a few domain names, some were taken, including I first went to and it said the server could not be found, and then I got excited! However when I went over to Go Daddy, I did a domain search of the url and it was taken… Just not being used. So I did a Whois look-up to see what I could find out. I discovered that the domain was in the tail end of the Redemption Period. I would still have to wait the 5 day Pending Delete period, as long as the original owner didn’t renew the domain. I checked the domain availability on Go Daddy every day from then on for a little over a week. It was released back into the domain pool for registration. I registered it immediately.

Epic Needs Your Help!

This is the part where we ask for your help. We need you to share this article with your friends, family, co-workers… everybody. Let everyone you know know about epic. We aim to make a big splash in the social community. We don’t want to become the next Facebook, we could only hope to be a fraction of them, but we believe with the help of all of you guys, it can be a success. We want to help you find all the stuff on the interwebz that is epic, and we need your help to do it. The website will be developed with the users in mind, it will quickly become your guys’ website. We would like all of your feedback when it launches.
